Safeguarding
The Governors and staff at Brooklands Primary School are fully committed to ensure every child in our school community, is safe and protected from harm.
Our Safeguarding policy (based upon the statutory Government guidance: Keeping Children Safe In Education) gives clear direction to staff, volunteers, visitors, governors and parents about expected behaviours and legal responsibilities we all have: to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children at our school.
To achieve this we aim to:
- Promote safe practice within our school, including recruitment procedures to prevent unsuitable people from working with the children
- Identify instances where there are grounds for concern about a child’s welfare and initiate or take appropriate action to keep them safe
- Contribute to effective partnership working between all those involved in providing services for our children
Brooklands Designated Safeguarding and Prevent Lead is Mike Waddell and the Alternate Designated Safeguarding Leads are Christine Davy and Marie Chapman. Our nominated Safeguarding Governor is Hayley Aherne.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) takes lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection.
If you have a concern about a child's well-being you must contact the school as soon as possible and make contact with our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
