PSHE
At Brooklands we follow the Jigsaw PSHE programme.
Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) is embedded throughout daily life at Brooklands. We model positive relationships, self-image and communication skills with others in all our day-to-day interactions, as well as teaching skills explicitly in PSHE lessons.
PSHE at Brooklands goes beyond being a standalone subject and extends through all aspects of the school to help our pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, develop resilience, now and in the future and helping to develop socially aware individuals.
Around the school you will also see “Who Are You Today?” posters reminding and encouraging our children to communicate positively with everyone and to be considerate in their actions towards others from smiling and acknowledging when someone is speaking to you to holding a door open for another pupil or teacher.
The school routinely focusses on bullying awareness and prevention and holds an annual Anti-Bullying Week to raise awareness and highlight what can be done if they have any concerns. In recognition for its work in this area, Brooklands has been awarded the BIG Award (Bullying Intervention Group) in recognition of our excellence in the area of bullying intervention and awareness.
Brooklands is also the first and only school in Suffolk to hold a nationally recognised quality mark for wellbeing in schools (the Wellbeing Award for Schools). Achieving this award recognised the great work that we are doing to support and teach our children in the area of mental health and wellbeing.
Please see our policies page for further details on our policies, including SRE (Sex and Relationships) and Drugs.
