Design Technology
Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. Our children work on a range of projects and problems and learn how to take risks, become resourceful, innovate and evaluate design and technology whilst developing a critical understanding of the impact design and technology has on the world around them.
Rooted in evidence-led best practice, we have purposefully developed our Design and Technology curriculum into blocks covering a particular set of disciplines including food and nutrition, mechanisms, structures, systems, electric systems, understanding materials and textiles. We weave in vertical progression to enable pupils to revisit key disciplines throughout their primary journey with increasing degrees of challenge and complexity.
Central to our children's learning are activities designed to develop their oracy and vocabulary skills to enable them to use the language associated with design and technology in a meaningful way when talking about their work. Our intention is that with exceptional teacher instruction, pupils are inspired to acquire the knowledge of design and technology and skilfully apply their understanding.
