Music

Enjoying music and playing an instrument is something we often treasure for our entire lives. Brooklands values its high-quality music curriculum and aims to inspire all of our children to develop a love of music and inspire and encourage talent, increase self-confidence and creativity as well as a sense of achievement.

We are thrilled to have the specialist support of Suffolk County Music to help us open up the magical and exhilarating language of music to our children and help make the most of our fabulous new dedicated music room. We have recently invested heavily in our music resources and have a wide range of equipment for our children to use including: African drums, keyboards, xylophones, recorders and guitars.

Children in Year 3 learn the recorder and Years 4 to 6  learn to play the clarinet and we hope that for some of our children they will embark on graded music beginning with their Grade 1.

All year groups have the opportunity of becoming involved in clubs such as singing and playing the recorder.

The school has a fabulous, purpose built outdoor stage where visiting performers and musicians are able to perform, and community events are staged.

Singing is a big part of Brooklands and all our children take part in regular events where singing is a key element. There is the opportunity to perform with other schools and experience amazing music first-hand by taking part in events such as Young Voices at the O2 Arena in London.

The school also arranges an annual visit to the Royal Albert Hall to take part in the Primary Proms concert.
